Smart FieldPackEditor.Net 1.1: maturity for the DateTimePicker and all other built-in editors

Montreal, Quebec, Canada - April 23, 2008—VisualHint, a company specializing in the creation of elaborated and usable custom controls from scratch, is pleased to announce the first upgrade to its versatile FieldPackEditor framework. Bug fixes and usability improvements are the key elements of this new version.

Created initially to fix all the shortcomings of the Microsoft DateTimePicker, one of the most criticized within the developers’ community, SFPE 1.1 finetunes the use of this component and adds new features to its two other built-in controls:

* The IP address editor is able to handle strings and unsigned integers. It can also be placed inside Smart PropertyGrid.Net as an inplace control.

* The latitude/longitude control is now a true reusable editor, whose rendering can be customized to show only the information you need (among degrees, minutes, seconds, fraction part). It is able to handle several of your data types, like floats, doubles, decimals, their nullable types and even others if they are convertible. Like the IP address editor, it can now be displayed in Smart PropertyGrid.Net as an inplace control.

As a reminder, a few examples of the features that FieldPackEditor has to offer are: a flexible content, look and feel; Nullable value; Data binding for the control, for field packs as well as for individual fields; A ready to use inplace DateTime editor for the DataGridView plus an adapter for the PropertyGrid; A complete keyboard interface with autocomplete fields and automatic jumps to the next field; Buttons, icons and custom fields; Support for right to left languages and more! With this control you will even be able to develop your own editors for durations, frequencies, geographical positions and any other data that can be arranged into rule-based fields.

Don’t miss the four introductory screencasts that demonstrate what can be done with this original framework, as well as the new one that showcases the new features.

Smart FieldPackEditor.Net 1.1 is available on April 23, 2008, from VisualHint. Prices start at $49 (U.S.) per license, with quantity discounts available.
